Deborah Bahnsen has been a principal in the
consulting firm of Jewel & Bahnsen, LLC since
January of 2001. She focuses her practice on
regulatory and compliance issues facing Managed Care
Plans particularly Medicaid and Medicare plans,
health care provider and employer contracting as
well as other third party payor compliance issues
including those faced by Preferred Provider
Organizations and Third Party Administrators.
She provides professional representation for clients
requesting assistance with Ohio’s legislative,
regulatory, and administrative rules processes
focusing on analyzing the impact of legislation and
administrative rules and advising clients on
strategies they may follow achieve desired results.
Deborah also serves as outside Counsel to trade and
professional associations. In this role, she
provides legal advice as well as administrative
support to the associations she serves. In the
past, Deborah served as in-house Counsel for the
Ohio State Medical Association and the Ohio
Association of Health Plans. Deborah is also a
past Assistant Director in charge of the Life and
Health and Managed Care Divisions of the Ohio
Department of Insurance. She received her JD
and her BS from The Ohio State University.
